Our group member Sin-Yuen Chang has passed her PhD viva subject to very minor corrections, and has already submitted the revised thesis, titled “Studies of Metal Speciation and Nucleation in Complex Functional Liquid Systems“. Sin-Yuen has already taken up a position at Diamond Light Source, and a visiting appointment at the University of Leeds, through which she will continue to collaborate with our team. Congratulations , Dr Chang!

Our team member Devon Indar has just received official notification that he has been awarded a PhD for his diessertation on the “Oxidation of Alcohols Using Heterogeneous Au/TiO2 Catalysts”. Congratulations Devon!

News came through today that our team member Josh Goldberg has been awarded a PhD degree for his research on the “Detection and Removal of Degradation Products from Liquid Systems”. Congratulations, Josh!

Sin-Yuen wins poster prize

At the recent Postgraduate Research conference of the School our group member Sin-Yuen Chang has won the First Year PhD poster prize for her poster entitled “The quest for a golden age in wastewater treatment”. Congratulations, Sin-Yuen!

Matt Thomason passed PhD viva

On Friday, 22 March 2013 our group member Matt Thomason passed his PhD examination subject to minor corrections in his PhD thesis, Soft X-ray Spectroscopy of Molecular Species in Solution: Studies of Imidazole and Imidazole/Water Systems.

Matt Hudson Shortlisted by IChemE for “Young Chemical Engineer of the Year”

Dr Matthew Hudson, an alumnus of our group who completed his PhD in 2010, has been shortlisted for the ‘IChemE Young Chemical Engineer of the Year’ award. After completing his PhD Matt joined Shell, with whom he currently works in Houston, Texas.

Sin-Yuen shortlisted for SET award 2012

It has been announced today that our group member Sin-Yuen Chang is one of the three finalists for the 2012 Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) Student of the Year Awards in Chemical Engineering. The SET Awards are Europe’s most important awards for science and technology undergraduates. There were nearly five hundred entries for the Chemical Engineering award this year, so it is already a considerable achievement to have been shortlisted.
